WHO IS WMoptics?

William McEwing, aka WM Optics, is a sports and events photographer based in New Zealand.

But this wasn’t always the plan.

At just 15 years old, William picked up a camera driven by a passion for sport and a desire to capture more than just the scoreboard. What started as taking photos on the sidelines quickly turned into a serious creative pursuit.

Over time, William dedicated himself to learning photography, documenting games, events, and behind-the-scenes moments—constantly refining his skills and focusing on fast-paced action, emotion, and atmosphere.

My goal is to capture real moments, emotion, and atmosphere through powerful photography. From intense competition to genuine reactions off the field, I aim to create authentic images that tell the story and bring each event to life.
